Its time to set your sails with the wind!

The vision of Chartered Accountancy course is to transform the CA aspirants into dynamic professionals who are capable of handling even the most twisted puzzle that pops up in the finance and corporate arena every now and again. Compared to other professionals a vast area of knowledge is expected from a CA. The new age Chartered Accountants should be updated and alert about the financial, legal, economic and political up comings.

About ten years ago CA profession was all about practice and job. The important point was to qualify. But now the scenario has changed. Chartered Accountants hold key positions in top firms. They are responsible for financial reporting, taxation, auditing and managing other aspects of finance in the company. Chartered accountant is supposed provide professional advice, aiming to maximize profitability of the company.  To prepare the students up to this level the CA curriculum have been changing continuously for the past few years, but sadly the students’ approach to studies have changed little. Students still depend entirely on the age old methods of notes, tuition, guides, previous questions, suggested answers etc for the exam. They don’t bother about the career requirements that await them once they pass out.

Under the new curriculum ICAI exam questions are aimed to bring out the in-depth knowledge in basics, competency in presentation skills and problem analysing, reporting skills with relevant standards, statutory compliances and day to day amendments. Students are needed to be tech – savvy and efficient in their communicative skills .

Students studying for CA course should understand that now study in CA is not completed with the final course. The qualification of CA acts only as a strong platform for further studies just like MD is now a necessity after MBBS.

The curriculum for CA course through CPT, IPCC/PCC, and FINAL should be considered as a single package and should not be looked separately. Students should concentrate to pass out with minimum attempts keeping in mind that the subjects in each stage are stepping stones to the next level and are interconnected. It is important that all the topics are covered thoroughly.

Concluding, CA aspirants should invariantly keep their eyes open to the changing trends and mould themselves into dynamic professionals who are capable of contributing their ideas effectively for the economic development of the country.
